The Range
The aim of Bailey Instruments and Healthy Step was to offer a streamlined choice of devices which all provide the practitioner with a quick, easy and adjustable orthotic for custom prescription. In consultation with two distinguished musculo-skeletal practitioners, Andrew Horwood and Steve Bloor we have created a small, but widely applicable range of foot orthoses.
Our first product was Vectorthotic®,a customisable orthotic which comes complete with shells, posts and top covers ready for custom assembly. This revolutionary product is now a popular choice for musculo-skeletal specialists within private and NHS clinics. Over 120 NHS Trusts use the system and several hundred private practitioners subscribe to its advantages and ease of use.
Then, the X-Line device was designed and manufactured in response to clinicians’ demands for a cheap and easy temporary device. The simple insole offers a good heel seat, 1st ray recess and sagittal plane control in the shape of a midfoot saddle.
The X-Lines were an immediate success, though the clinicians within podopaediatrics asked when smaller versions would be available for children. The result was “Pedipod”, a device specifically designed for the paediatric foot. This simple device has a deep heel seat, midfoot saddle and 1st ray recess which offers good biomechanical control to the paediatric foot. Clinicians demanded a more robust product which has brought us the X-Line 70, essentially an X-Line with a shore value of 70. This is a very firm insole affording increased biomechanical control and improving the longevity of the device.
More recent developments include the PressurePerfect insole which,although designed with the high-risk foot in mind , is used widely within the sports community.
The 9-5 insole is a departure from conventional biomechanics, but is designed to offer comfort to wearers of high heels. Whether in the office environment,or at special occasions, the 9-5 device will fit invisibly into the high heel shoe. Scented with peppermint oil, the 9-5 device has built up a loyal army of high heel shoe wearers.
Bailey Instruments’ unique relationship with the manufacturers, Healthy Step, affords a greater understanding of the podiatrists needs. All of our orthoses have been developed in accordance with modern biomechanical thinking.
