Introduction
Bailey Instruments are the official podiatry distributor of the Ellman Radiosurgery units and their accessories.
The concept of Radiosurgery has its roots in military history. Combat radio operators using whip aerials occasionally complained of hand injury when using high frequency radio waves. This phenomenen has since been harnessed , and studied.
Ellman Radiosurgery units operate at high 4MHz radiofrequency – a factor of some 8 to 10 times higher than conventional electrosurgery ( 100kHz to 1.5MHz) . Critically, the Radiosurgery patient does not become a part of an electrical circuit. The Radiosurgical active electrode remains cold.
Ellman 4MHz Radiosurgery works because living tissue exhibits a resistance to the close proximity of the high frequency radio energy. This resistance will induce localised heat at temperatures high enough to vaporise the moisture content of the individual tissue cells, causing each cell to be destroyed in a process called volatilisation.
